Structure and Basic Guidelines of Bank Common Entrance Test by IBPS:
IBPS stands for Institute for Banking Personnel Selection and as the name specifies so does the function of IBPS.IBPS is an organization that conducts recruitment exams for the selection of Banking Personnel.Several Nationalized Banks are taking the services of IBPS for the its recruitment purposes for both clerical as well as officers exams
In 2011,IBPS in collaboration with 19 Nationalized banks in India have decided to conducts a Common Bank Entrance Exam for the Recruitment of Probationary Officer`s,Management Trainees and Clerks.It has been decided that IBPS will conduct the exam twice a year.The First Exam is for Recruitment of Probationary Officers and Management Trainees and Second Exam is for recruitment of Clerks
IBPS will issue a Scorecard with a validity of one year.The benefit of having this score card is that each bank which desire to conduct Recruitment for Clerks,PO`s and other officers will issue a notification specifying the Age,Educational Qualifications and CWE Score (Common Written Exam Score).So it will reduce the burden of Banks to conduct recruitment test for the selection of Candidates.After getting the applications banks will carry out their selection procedure with CWE scorecards viz.GD,Interview etc
List of Participating Banks in Common Bank Entrance Exam 2011:
Allahabad Bank,Andhra Bank ,Bank of Baroda ,Bank of India ,Bank of Maharashtra ,Canara Bank ,Central Bank of India ,Corporation Bank,Dena Bank,Indian Bank,Indian Overseas Bank,Oriental Bank of Commerce,Punjab National Bank,Punjab & Sind Bank,Syndicate Bank,Union Bank of India,United Bank of India,UCO Bank,Vijaya Bank.
The above method has its consent of Government of India,Participating Banks and Indian Banking Association.A candidate who wishes to start a banking careers in banks mentioned above will have to appear in the Common Bank Entrance Exam.No other mode of selection will be offered by the participating banks
From Time to time IBPS will issue notification each time stipulating:
- Minimum Eligibility in terms of Age,Educational Qualification etc
- Guidelines regarding payment of Application fees and application process
- Tentative Dates of Common Bank Entrance exam
- Structure of Examination
- Issuance of Call Letter
