IBPS Crucial Meeting Held : Eligibilty criteria relaxed and grip tightened on toppers

It is always said that Criticism brings some good results, and this fact is recently verified in the Crucial IBPS meeting held a few days ago.In one of our previous posts, we have bring to the light 4 Reasons as to Why the IBPS Examination System is a Failure, and now the IBPS had taken some crucial decision and can be treated as a welcome step from a large pool of IBPS Passed students.

Some of the points that were discussed in the meeting are :

  • Non-Graduation for clerks.
  • Reduction in Application fees.
  • Tighten grip on toppers.
  • Fixing Higher Cut off for Interviews.

Non-Graduation for Clerks

In our previous posts, we have discussed that minimum eligibility criteria to apply for Bank Jobs in now graduation, but in the meeting it was decided that this rule will be applicable only from the next IBPS Clerk Exam.So those Non-Graduate students who have passed the IBPS Clerk exam can now apply for Bank Clerk Jobs.It is worth mentioning here that only 15 % of 5.31 lakh IBPS Passed students are Non-graduates.

Reduction in Application fees

In another welcome decision, the banks have decided to reduce the Application fees from Rs 200 to Rs 100 and Rs 50 to Rs 20.It is worth mentioning here that students will have to remit application fees at the bank branches before applying for jobs in that particular bank.

Most of these application fees are non-refundable, so those candidates who did not get Interview Calls, often complaint of spending money for just applying.

Tighten grip on toppers

Another important point discussed in meeting is that Only Toppers are getting Interview calls from most of the banks. This raised much hue and cry, because there is a delay caused by selected candidates in joining the banks, and now IBPS had decided to take some stringent steps in this regard.

  • Restricting the joining time to only three weeks.
  • In case the candidates, did not join by the due date, the offer will be given to the next candidate in the waiting list.
  • Maintain the due number of Candidates in the waiting list, and conducting the Interviews for unfilled posts with those candidates who have already applied.

Fixing Higher Cut offs for Interviews

Last but not the least, the banks have decided to fix the higher cut offs the the Interviews. This means that banks will call the candidates only in the ratio of 1: 3 or 1:4 to the total number of vacancies.Earlier the banks will call the candidates in the ratio of 1:10.This created much chaos among those  candidates who have applied for the Interview and when the Interview list is declared, only those candidates are called who rank higher in the merit list. This means wastage of money for lower ranked candidates

  1. the marks bar for PO in some banks is 60% in graduation ,where as IBPS said any graduate can apply for Exam for PO.So after this all india exam the marks bar to apply to individual banks should be removed or reduced upto 55%.

  2. very nice information. I liked this criteria for selection. great post. I am subscribing your site for latest updates.

    thanks
    Monika

  3. Finally getting some relaxation.

  4. this is a welcome one...even its not a problem to toppers.
But my concern is about the cutoff marks for general is too high...
as many people are losing by 1 or 2 marks. there should be an exception to english subject as they are giving the eng paper in toefl and gre manner. English , is required to manage not to teach like a lecturer, i'm suggesting that english paper should be in understandable manner.I've seen many of my friends got more than 160 score but failed by 1 or 2 marks in english.

  5. sir, i am SC category with 138 marks in ibps clerk and bba in 59% MBA 54% good knowledge about the computer can i eligible for the interview but uco bank cut off is 146 in SC

  6. I think it should be shut down the IBPS. it is very time consuming and money wasting procedure and also candidate lost their chances till passing the next examination. once failing in one IBPS exam it lost to get job in 19 nationalize banks. candidate wait for next 6 months to appear for IBPS exam. that is simple thing , candidate lost 18 exams. because of failing in one. also one paper of Local language should be added in that states. example. student who gives the exam in tamilnadu there will be TAMIL paper compulsory, in Karnatak Kannada paper should compusory, in Gujrat Gujrati paper should compulsaory , Maharashtra - Marathi so it will real judgment with the candidate of their state.

  7. Hiii this is Debalina here. My view point is that since the IBPS has said that every graduate can apply for the CWE P.O examination, I think the banks should not keep any bar in respect to graduation percentage, as because a candidate who has got a very high score in CWE examination but is unable to meet the criteria of graduation percentage, than passing in IBPS P.O will be of no use for them............

  8. min 60% must for any graduate

  9. sir plz lower the cutoff its still too high. only the toppers are getting the calls where will the midiocar survive???? evry1 is not genius or too intelligent to get 180 190.plz keep it lower specially for general category.. vry high time now....... plz sir keep cutoff to 150 160... as i got 160 in cwe clerk but still i dont see any hope of getting any call for the interview and this is realy too difficult situation for me.. inspite of being qualified i stand nowhere...

  10. ibps has made very easy paper.actually it has made simple because all candidates are not intelligent this is the main reason for high cutt offs of some areas, lots of people have used scramming formulas in all sections specially bihar,up,ncr,mp.test should check more basic knowlege ,understanding, use of technical words in English/Hindi ,vocab & practical areas relating banking work/knowledge.
aggregate marks obtained by each candidate in cwe should be according to the ratio/average of candidate aggregate marks in 10/12/graduation, the stipulated ratio/average will help for right selection of right candidate at right time for the bank

  11. hi im undergraduate.......from SC category, and i got around 50% marks(124) in IBPS clerical exams.......and according to my marks and qualifications i applied in Dena bank......but i didn't get any interview call from bank's side........and also there is no another option to apply in any other bank........im really disappointed.....i also wants to apply in some more banks........but i cant do that because of their requirements.

  12. a good move by ibps. surely the students will get benefit. i wanted to know that i my ibps score is 172(general) from uttar pradesh. do i have any chance of getting an interview call from any of the bank?

  13. the cut off merit is little high for sc and general candidates.
And there is also no reservation seat for sc candidates in Gujarat and the number of general seats are also much less.Ibps considered a 100000 vacancies but at that time much less recruitment.

  14. I like this IBPS's decision, It is really very good news for those candidates who were not getting interview calls. All 4 decisions are great for not only aspirant candidates but also other way for banks.

  15. hello sir/madam
we have not yet recevied the full statistics of po exam results(state-wise)when compared to clerk exam po exam was somewhat messy right from conducting the exam till date. we are not able to know how many banks have completed their recruitment process and till which cut-off candidates have been placed. though we have cleared the po exam we are not able to decide whether to attend the next forthcoming po exam. we are really confused of whether to prepare for interview or to prepare for the next upcoming exam. to say in a nutshell nothing is clear and it is difficult to conclude.

  16. i think its a beneficial announcement for all the non-graduate person. thnx ibps portal to give very important update and we hope that u give more important news whatever we want.........

  17. If bank will call for interview as per 1:4 ratio then why thay start to online subscription for all successful students. This is wastage of money of various students. Banks needs to collect money only from those students who will receive call letters.IBPS is very time consuming process. students is waiting from last 7 to 8 months for clerk recruitment but still bank not conducted interview.

  18. is it possible to make a relaxation on the upper age limit too for the GENERAL category?you have made some changes on the eligibility criteria for graduates/non-graduates,in a similar way,is it possible to raise the upper age limit from the present 28 years for the GENERAL category??

  19. It i s really good decision but not total solution for those candidate who got between 140-150 marks. I thought when IBPS introduced to us the competition will be reduce but competition increased.

  20. IBPS is not concentrating on Score as they concentrate on Fees. They have to call all candidates who got minimum 140+ in their score otherwise its a waste of putting common entrance test . They have to put entrance exams for some use for students not for them .

  21. sir!
i scored 152 in obc category. i applied for all banks. but still didnt receive any interview letters. its waste of money and my precious time since im 33 years now. i dont have chance to appear again. ibps made me believe that its a golden oppurtunity, but it has ruined my career thoughts. if exams couldhave been conducted separately, i could have been placed now. lets see how they are going to rectify those mistakes....

  22. Sir,

Saw the advt of private banks. Are they taking ex-serviceman too. Age limit was silent on the status of ex servicemen. Please confirm so that we need to waste our money in applying.
