Today
we have some mixed bag of news for both the Graduates and
Undergraduates. We have been asked this question so many times in our Facebook and Comments Section about the Different Eligibility criteria for Banks and IBPS.In fact in one of our previous posts, we have mentioned the 4 Reasons as to Why the IBPS Examination System is a Failure ? Now let us Come to the point and the pin point is that
The Government of India had ordered that Minimum Educational Qualification in order to apply for Clerk Jobs in Public Sector Banks in now Graduation
Good News for Graduates OR Bad News for Undergraduates
So
what do you think about this news.I discussed this news with my two
friends and one is rejoiced to hear the news and the other feel down
after hearing the news.Obviously the one who feels good is Graduate and
other who feels bad is Undergraduate.
Since
the graduation is the minimum educational qualification, so those who
wish to apply for Clerk Jobs on the basis of H Sc. marks will now have
to wait till they acquire a graduation degree.
Graduates Point of View:
For graduates it is a welcome decision as the number of candidates
applying for this exam will now be lower down as only those holding a
graduate degree can apply for IBPS and other bank exams. This simply means Less Competition in IBPS Clerk Exam 2012 and exams that follow in Subsequent years
Undergraduates Point of View: Getting a Bank Clerk after HSC now seems a distant dream, but every undergraduate who passed the IBPS Clerk Exam would like to know whether this eligibility rule will apply for this exam or in Upcoming IBPS Exams
Behind the Scenes ?
This decision is not taken only in one night. The Government of India had made a Committee in 2010 under the Chairman ship of Dr Anil K Khandelwal (former Bank Of Baroda chairman) to look into the HR issue and report the recommendations to the government and accordingly the committee submitted its report with 105 recommendations, and out of which the Government accepted 56.
In
these 56 recommendations, the key factor that got Government's nod is
Fixing the Graduation as the Minimum Qualification to apply for Clerk
Jobs in Public Sector banks.
IBPS in Dilemma ?
IBPS is being highly criticized during these months for Showing different and doing different. In the IBPS Clerk Notification that was issued in the month of August 2011, the educational qualification to appear in this exam is
Now After the declaration of IBPS Clerk Results in the month of February 2012, 5.31 lakh students have passed the Clerk exam which is a mix of both Graduates and UndergraduatesPass in SSLC (10th Class) with 60 % marks OR Pass in HSC (12th Class) with 50 % marks OR A Graduation degree
After the declaration of Results, till date 6 Banks have announced Clerk Vacancies for the passed students in the IBPS clerk Exam 2011.You can go through the Complete List of Banks hiring IBPS Qualified candidates at the link given below
Out of these six banks, only Bank of Baroda and Andhra Bank have asked for a degree, while the other 4 banks have decided to go on with HSC marks only.
Some sigh of Relief
Those Undergraduates who have passed the IBPS Clerk Exam with good marks can breathe easy as 4 out of 6 banks have not asked for the Graduation degree. So those who have applied for these banks may have a sigh of relief as it looks that this new rule will be implemented from the next project.
What IBPS Director Said ......
When contacted by the Hindu Business Line, IBPS Director, M Balachandran said, that This Government order might bring a change a in the Eligibility criteria of the Next IBPS Clerk Exam 2012 as the minimum qualification for appear in the Next CWE for Clerks in a Graduation degree.
Clarifying IBPS's stand on the Eligibility criteria, Mr Balacahndtran said that Government's order on fixing the eligibility criteria was a recent development which came after the IBPS had issued the Notification and conducted the IBPS Clerk Exam.
Your Thoughts ?
Without your thoughts, this article is incomplete.I would like that every bank aspirant who is affected by this decision of Government of India either in a good way or bad way must post his/ her views about the topic in the Comment Section given below.

YES SC/ST STUDENTS WHO HAVE PASSED THIS IBPS CLERICAL CADRE AND DREAMT OF BANK JOB IS BADLY AFFECTED DUE TO THIS GRADUATION COMPULSORY FOR RECRUITMENT...THEY MIGHT HAVE INFORMED ALREADY MEANS IT WILL NOT BE A MATTER BUT AFTER PASSING THE EXAM ONLY GRADUATES ARE ELIGIBLE MEANS THIS IS CLEAR HURTING OF PEOPLE WHO LOOK FOR JOB
Its really good news for graduates because lesser the candidate more we got chance for selection.
IBPS portal you are doing great job..Congrats man!
though its a good news to some candidates but govt should not start this process from this IBPS.And the educational and other eligibility should be considered the present date not 1yr before i.e 1.8.11.
Is graduation necessary from this ibps exam or next exam????
IT WILL BE BAD FOR UNDERGRADUATES, SPECIALLY WHO DROPOUT THERE EDUCATION KIND FOR SOME REASONS (FINANCIAL, FAMILY, DISEASES, ETC.) GOVT. MUST THINK ANOTHER PART OF UNDERGRADUATES AND SHOULD BE GIVE ANOTHER CHANCE TO TALENTED CANDIDATES.... IBSP ALREADY TACKING CWE EXAM IF U SCORE GOOD, U WILL BE BETTER CHANCE TO GET JOB......
SO GOVT. AND IBPS SHOULD THINK ABOUT IT.
This is my question this new rule is also applicable for recent notifications or after ibps cwe2012. This may be eyewash to Hsc cadidates because five PS banks are called for clerks with qualification of HSC. What i wonder is these banks will call shortlisted candidates including both of graduates and under graduates. There are more chances to reject HSC candidates by banks and calling them for interview just as formality. What will happen god knows. This is really hurting undergraduates.
the decision is not right forthose who r not able to complete or even do graduation due to many reasons....... for them getting a secured lyf after 10+2, banking was a gud option... but now they will hv to face many problems.... it is not jst about me or other who r currently doing there graduation n who will in one or more year , complete it but for those who hv not done it, it's a grt loss... hope the gov would hv thought for them before taking such decision
weather student who waiting for their final semester result is eligible for clerk interview 2012 or not..i cleared ibps cwe exam 2011 and am doing my final year BE,am waiting for my result...am i eligible to apply for bank interview's....
hi I got 170 marks under GENERAL category, shall i get a interview call letter from the banks of ANDHRA and Bank of India. My advise to the 19 banks is First complete the process of recruitment of PO jobs,i.e. there is situation of a person getting highly-qualified marks in both exams(PO and CLERK) with Degree 55% elgibility. So the persons who got 170 marks onlly in IBPS-CLERK 2011 exam are confused about their chances.
govt. should have thought about it before conducting the exam. How can you change educational eligibility after the result of the exam..
govt. should have thought about it before the advertisement of the ibps exam, changing eligibility criteria after the result seems like huting the candidates..:(
Respected Sir,
Please Sir tell us when result of I.B.P.S Specialist Officer declared. we are eagerly waiting for result. We are waiting for ur reply on this ......
Government should have to make compulsory 10+2 for clerical jobs ,jisse na to graduates or na to undergrdautaes ka loss, hota or fir bank to waise bhi free hai apne decision ke liye wo chahe graduate le ya undergrdaute (after interview).kam se kam jo talented undergrdautaes hai unko bhi to mauka milta, sirf degree hi talent ka proof nahi hota
I m not with this at any cost.
i am a undergraduate student but my score is 186...can ibps give a clarification that what shall students like me do?? are they gonna return us our money?? we invest our money as well has hard work in such kind of competitions and banks are making all our hard work go in vain. can IBPS give us a reason for it? and what is the difference between clerk and PO if both require a graduation??
Government of India always takes right decisions as far as concerned with educational issues and employment issues for citizens. I welcome this decision because an under graduate has more time i.e. 3-4 yrs than a graduate or a post graduate for getting into a job. So I feel it is a good encouragement for those under graduates who have appeared for the exam and have obtained scores. Guys you don't get disappointed and believe in your strength. All the best for you and for those who are applying for the jobs notified along with me.. Have a nice time
when the new vacancies will come.......for bank clerks???and they want graduation necessary ????
At first the eligibility was 12th pass with min. 50%, IBPS must have not set this eligibility only to call more and more applications or just for the publicity of IBPS exam.
IBPS must have considered some factors before setting the eligibility. Factors like job profile of a Bank Clerk and the intellectual requirements for it.
And considering this factors IBPS have set the eligibility, subjects for exam, and its syllabus etc.
Now setting eligibility as GRADUATION is for nothing but just to cut the extra competition in the exam, or may be for the ease of MANAGEMENT, and nothing else !!!
Instead of this i think,
" IBPS should consider this facts for the exam ", like,
* Keeping the eligibility same i.e., 12th with min.50%.
* Keeping the PARTICIPATING BANKS ELIGIBILITY AS SAME AS THAT OF IBPS.
and
* Giving extra points for GRADUATES.
[ Like, Total score in exam + 20 points(for candidates with GRADUATION) ]
* And more extra points for candidates with POST-GRADUATION.
[ Like Total score in exam + 30 points(for candidates with PG)]
" THERE MAY BE SOME CANDIDATES(undergraduates) WITH GOOD INTELLIGENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE JOB and THEY ALSO MUST BE GIVEN A ...... FAIR CHANCE TO COMPETE !!! "
IBPS and the GOVERNMENT must RETHINK over it !!!
The decision is good, it will motivate students to acquired atleast degree, and this decision might improved higher eduacation growth rate.
but sorry for those students who is undergraduates, so complete your graduation and in touch with the prepration . you have more chnces after graduation
i am not agree from this decision of government.i score 153 in ibps and iam an undergraduate.it will be bad for undergraduate.ab mujhe 3 saal aur intzaar karna hoga aur tab tak sabhi banks ki vacancies full ho jayengi.
i am also not agree from this decision I got 178 marks in ibps cwe clerk and i am graduate but what happens those candidate who undergraduatd and their prepration is full. I think it is not good think by gov so my advice for gov please change this criteria thank you
This is of course a big frustration for we students who have scored 175 and more as our money as well as time is wasted. we are not able to digest this decision as we fear of loosing a good opportunity.
shocking decision !
let hope for the best
atleast disabled and SC/ST candidates must be allowed as undergraduates.
because pwd candidates like me hardly get any chance for graduation.
wow!I wasted months preparing for it dropped my graduatiion plans and now they say i can't give the competition coz i'll increase the competition. Now why shouladn't cbse set minimum qualification for aieee to graduates just to reduce competition....this is absolutely non sense
If in the next IBPS CWE Clerk 2012, education qualification is increased to DEGREE, than whether the AGE will be increased to 30 for GENERAL category
If education qualification for clerk is increased to Degree than what will be the education qualification for PO????
mai or mere friends last ibps exam 18yrs age na hone ki wajah nai de pae so our total hope is next ibps coz hmloh last 2 yrs se bank clerk ki preparation kar rhe h taki 1st attempt me hi join kar le
agar aisa hua to pta nai hmlog kya karenge coz hmlog poor famlilis ko belog karte h
so plz plz plz dont change the minimum qualification for clerk..........
Yes, Graduate students have to get job in bank. But Bank Transactions are related to Commerce Subject. Then why you allow to enter the exam for other graduates ( Ex: B.E, BA,BBM Etc), had no idea about Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, journal entry and all then, Why should they have to face the Bank Exam? So i would like to tell that Bank Has to be take Graduates who are purely related to Commerce Background.
I hope you may think of it........ Thanks
This is not gopd decision why because there may be some students who might have been discontinued from the studies after 10+2 they will be affected with this decision
Pleas recall the decision and make the qualification as 10+2 with60%
if the banks no need undergraduates they could have specified in eligibilty cretria during the time of ibps exam application. wy they say minimum age:18. how could a student get a graduation in age of 18. Undergraduates students who have passed in ibps exam would wait with lots of hopes. all their dreams will be destroyed in secs.
I also request all the banks to allow the canditates to take thevprintout of their application form till the date of intereview. there may be chances to miss the printed form. Due to this if they cant able to join all their hardworks will become mere waste.
so pls consider these two request.
THIS IS FROUD
ONLY FROUD
AFTER TAKING EXAM DECIDING OF QUALIFICATION
BUT THIS IS NOT A NEW NEWS INDIAN GOVT. IS INCOMPLETE GOVT. IT CANNOT TAKE PROPPER DECISSION AT ONE TIME
THE MINISTERS OF INDIA IS MOSTLY UNEDUCATED SO YOU WILL UNDERSTAND DUE TO THESE FACTS THE FUTURE OF INDIA IS NOT EXCELLENT,NOT VERY GOOD,NOT GOOD,NOT FAIR IT IS ONLY POOR
BECOZ INDIAN GOVT. GIVE THE PREFFERENCE ONLY TO QUALIFICATION ISTEAD OF EXPERIENCE IN CASE OF GOVT. JOB BUT NOT ANY QUAILIFICATION CRETERIA IN CASE OF DEMOCRACY
What about ESM. As per GOI order person served in defence forces for 15 or more years are to be considered as graduates for all Govt/PSUs. please clarify.

when next ibps held tell me sir
Every Institution depends upon descision capability of employees, and for developing the age factor plays important role thus the undergraduates seem less mature and unable to take crucial responsibilities. The graduates are till mature and really in need of job so less chances of leaving job to complete education which is +ve for any bank.I think minimum qualification should be graduation as most of Government institutions except NDA demand atleast graduation as NDA trains candidate upto age of maturity i.e. 21 yrs & then posses responsibilty on him/her.
The government should give a second thought to their decision as it will affect the undergraduates badly, especially those candidates, who suffer from financial constraints, and have to look for jobs after passing out school. At least, there must be some other way out to sort out the huge number of candidates appearing for the written examination. The eligibility for appearing in this examination shouldn't have been altered, as the 19 public sector banks have their own eligibility criteria. A second thought on this decision is surely requested.
NO I THINK ITS A BAD DESCION THAT I EVER HEARD.BECAUSE CLERK LEVEL EXAMS ARE 'LOW'LEVEL EXAMS WHEN COMPARED TO 'PO'LEVEL.SYLLABUS ALSO VERY LOW AND VERY EASY QUESTIONS ARE GIVEN IN 'CLERK'.IF THEY CHANGE CLERKAL QUALIFICATION TO DEGREE THEN WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE OF APPLICATION OF DEGREE GUYS IN BOTH 'CLERK AND PO'.GOVT WILL MUST THINK ABOUT THIS THING THAT I WRITTEN IN ABOVE.
I WILL SAY NO FOR GRADUATION DEGREE AS THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR IBPS EXAM FOR CLERKS HOWEVER FOR POs IT SHOULD BE GRADUATE.
What is the fate of candidates who are freshers? i.e those who have completed their graduation in the year 2012? is it ok to provide our provisional certificate alone to claim our graduation?
according to government of india a clerk should be a graduate , then what will be the difference between a PO and a clerk. overall its a bad decision.
WTF? I have been preparing for the IBPS Clerk Exam 2012 today. I dropped out after +2 and don't have a degree. Bank clerk was the only better job found available for me as an undergraduate. I planned to prepare for the Clerk exam 2012 and then saw this NEWS.
This is not at all favorable for those people like me, who don't have a degree.
Vineeth
sir please conduct single interview and give chance to the ibps qualified candiate like preferences of 19 banks, like EMCET then process get success
are yaar 10+2 level v hota to graduate ko preference jyada milta lekin is condition mein to 10+2 walo ki lag gayi na.
there are so many jobs are on graduation level .. what about 10+2 level?
its not good.even i am also a b.tech holder but wants job in government so higher post ke liye graduation required hona chahiye like p.o or other.
what about the difference between graduate and non-graduate......... both are clerk. one in sbi nd other is in other bank.
i am not satisfied with this.
if some one not able to did his graduation before then they are on road no any goverment vacancies for him.... even for sc/st they are given preference......
its full partiality
if graduation required then age must be 21-31 b'coz no one can complete his graduation in 18.
what is the difference between clerk and po.
i am completely disagrred.
It is not a good decision sir, please change the eligibility criteria because all most many student have passed the IBPS examination on the basis of P.U.C.only please change the criteria because every ibps passed student depending upon this only please sir, change the eligibility criteria. it's my humble request.
I hope you will change the condition's
thats a bad decision taken by the govt., now a ? arises whats the difference b/w the qualification of bank p.o. & bank clerk, both are degree holder & one is performing the job of bank p.o. & the other one is performing the job of bank clerk, but both are graduate, i'm also persuing graduation & from last three months i was preparing myself for ibps clerk exam doing lots of hardwork but now all my positive atittude towards govt. goes negative, really indian govt. sucks, inse sirf bhrastachar hota he koi achha kaam nahi, thodi si mehnat bachane ke liye inhone ye kadam utha liya....i hope ki ibps 10
+2 ke pattern ko change nahi karega....
please inform the ibps that the minimum qualification must be highersecondary ....i dropped my degree and now i am preparing for ibps clerical exams...it will ruin my hopes and dreams as this is the only better job i can get with my +2 qualification...i am 27 year old and dont have any other option ....i prepared for this exam for the last 6 months and now i was shocked after seeing this news..please dont ruin our life and dream by implementing these kind of quick decisions..give one more chance and inform all the candidate that this will be the last chance for +2 holders..
we need justice..please please please dont dstroy my dream...i am an undergraduate..this wqas the best job that i could get ...if this rule is implemented my future will become blank..please give us one more chance and notify in the ibps site that this will be the last exam for undergraduates
please please dont disappoint the undergraduates...am already 27 and dont get time for taking a new degree...already qualified in the first cwe exam ..but didnt get selection..till then i was waiting for this exam..and my preparations will be in vain................so pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase dont implement this new education qualification
this decision really hurts..this will expel a lot of talented competitors from the scene.i don't think reducing the competition will help in finding best qualified clerical employee.let the competition increase.so that you get well talented candidates.eligibility criteria for PO post is already graduation.then whats the point of putting the same criteria for clerical posts also?and hence whats the difference between a PO and clerk?if an undergraduate is more intelligent and able than a graduate why can't you give him a chance to compete?please do think about this..hope govt will consider our requests
im very disappointed by this notification, i got 147 marks in first ibps clerical exam, but i didint get selected even though sc candidate, i am undergraduate, hope to get job in 2nd clerical exam, but degree qualifacation makes me very disappointing n loosing my hope of getting jod, pls change to intermediate qualification please, im begging the board, not only me,on behalf of lot of undergraduate students and sc/st candidates.
I think this one is not a right decision because there are so many students who wants to become self independent as soon as possible and the banking sector was providing the great opportunity but now for this the students have wai8 for 3 more years and i think that if you have a graduation degree think something bigger than the clerk , after graduation this one is not a appropiate job at last government of india has taken decision which is completely sense less and waste.............
Very disgusting decision.........
wait guyzzz ibps will declair new eligiblity critaria till 2013
for clrk-- MBA
for pos-- enggnering with MBA
hahahaaahaaaaa
chairman have to think abt that
this decision can decrease more number of comptitors for the post of clrk n pos......
govt to phle se bhrst hai tum to thik ho jao
our country is developing bt not at that rate u all r measuring it.
u should wait for 3 or 4 yrs for changing this elegiblity critaria...
isnt sirr.
i think this will be new eligibilty rules for future;
1.Peon - graduates
2. Clerks - master degree
3. Pos - Phd holders
now peons would be more proficient than now.
it is not fair on the part of govt of India. atleast, SC/ST n other reserved category peoples will b allowed as under graduates. It shows central govt's partiality 2wards reserved category n downtrodden ppl. Overall its a bad decision. govt shd rethink of it otherwise matter will seriously viewd by under graduates in the comin days still lots of ppl doesnt know abt this change
Anirban Acharyya , DAte of birth 09/12/1982. can I registration for IBPS examcontact no - 9475163386

petrol price hiked...desel price hiked.. rice price hiked...everything hiked..now the qualification also...ha ha what a government sirjiii..they can think high..as they are living in air...but what about the poor people????still they are living in earth..they are fighting to get a job for their existence..governments new policy."the poor will always be poor..and the rich will get promotion form lakhs to crores...of course it reduced the competition..but it ruined the hopes ...dreamss...and life...please inform us ..what is the qualification for peon???sweeper???is there anyy chance for us???
